Abstract

In July 2022, Singaraja City experienced inflation as high as 0.48 percent with a Consumer Price Index (base year 2018 = 100) of 114.51. The inflation rate for the calendar year July 2022 is as high as 5.31 percent. Meanwhile, the year-on-year inflation rate (July 2022 versus July 2021 or YoY) was recorded as high as 6.77 percent

Seven expenditure groups recorded inflation (m to m), namely group III (housing, water, electricity, and household fuel) as high as 2.08 percent; group I (food, beverages, and tobacco) as high as 1.60 percent; group VI (transportation) as high as 0.61 percent; group XI (personal care and other services) as high as 0.61 percent; group V (health) as high as 0.45 percent; group VIII (recreation, sports, and culture) as high as 0.34 percent; and group II (clothing and footwear) as high as 0.30 percent. Two groups experienced deflation, namely group IV (equipment, equipment, and routine household maintenance) of 7.19 percent; and group IX (education) as deep as 0.19 percent. Meanwhile, two other expenditure groups recorded no change in index or were stagnant, namely group VII (information, communication, and financial services) and group X (providing food and beverages/restaurants).

Commodities that have contributed to inflation in July 2022 include shallots, red chilies, tariffs for PAM drinking water, purebred chicken meat, cayenne pepper, bath soap, broiler eggs, motorcycle tires, and tuna.

The ninety CPI cities recorded inflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Kendari City (Southeast Sulawesi) while the lowest inflation was recorded in two cities, namely Tanjung City (South Kalimantan) and Pematang Siantar City (North Sumatra) each at 0.04 percent. If sorted from the highest inflation, then Singaraja ranks 69th out of 90 cities experiencing inflation.
