Employment data collected by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) through censuses and surveys, among others: Census Penduduuk (SP), the Inter-Census Population Survey (SUP), National Socioeconomic Survey (SUSENAS) and the National Labor Force Survey (SAKERNAS). From these surveys, only SAKERNAS specifically designed to collect data that can describe the general state of labor between the enumeration period.

Employment data collection activities were first carried out in 1976. To date, SAKERNAS undergone various changes both in the period of enumeration or sampling coverage area and the household. 1986 to 1993 SAKERNAS conducted on a quarterly basis, 1994 to 2001 on an annual basis every August. In 2002 to 2004 in addition to annual basis was also carried out on a quarterly basis. While the 2005 to 2010 SAKERNAS conducted semi-annually in February and August.

Purpose

In general, the purpose of collecting data through 2015 Sakernas that provide basic data of continuous employment. In particular, to obtain information data on the number of the working population, the unemployed and people who never stopped and its development at the district / municipal, provincial and national levels.
